Best Ever (Dennis Rodman Remix)

Ok. Ok. I get it. Michael Jordan. Magic Johnson. But what about Dennis Rodman?

One of Dr. D's NBA favorites for sure. Miss that guy!

Couldn't find a "Top 10 Rodman Fights" montage, but here are a couple of my favorites:

We need that spirit back in the NBA. If we ever get the NBA back...

Best Ever - A Retort

Damn. Hard to argue with 15 minutes of nasty dishes. But here you get a 2 for 1. Buzzer Beaters from His Airness and then break out the nice china, that is a beautiful dish! The last 4 minutes of this video are pretty nice assist highlights from MJ (The hands down best player ever :)

Come on NBA, get it together!

Peace

Best Ever

Maybe.

He gets my vote.

Dude could play any position on the floor.

In New England, rooting for Magic was like admitting to your boyhood neighbor that your dad would lose in a fist fight. It was simply not an option.

Roll the tape and table that Mike Jordan talk.

Mister Heavenly

This Super Group combines dad's 50's era crooning with hopeless and cranky tight sweater rock.

Brace yourself for Doom-Wop!?!

Kinda sounds like an appropriate - if insensitive - term for Italian Rob aka Mother Fuckin' Robert, on a bad day.

You can catch them in the coming week at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

My Week in Horror

I have always given more thought to what films will be on the movie watching plate for this time of season than what I may or may not wear out on the town.

You can keep the candy corn. Here is my menu of traditional and non-traditional treats.

Battle of Algiers - War, revolution, terrorism, and torture.

Contagion - Paltrow gets her cap peeled and Cliff Martinez brings the synth rock to this uneven plague.

House of Sand - Crazy dude drags lovely wife into the uninhabited north coast of Brazil. Can Seu Jorge save the day? You bet your Ziggy Stardust he can!

Kwaidan - Japanese ghost stories rendered beautifully - make your own haiku.

Trick R' Treat - Mindless American fun. And Anna Paquin.

Tenebrae - Stylish early eighties slasher epic. Italian for tits and ass.

Hanna - Homeschool girl kicks ass and takes names.

Happy 'ween!

Lupe Fiasco, Occupy Wall Street

Hey Moneyman the crowd is outside. The past, the future and the now is outside. The teachers and cooks and the drop-outs too. Word on the street is they looking for you…

Hey Moneyman they saying whats the score? And how much blood have you spilled on the butcher shop floor? Those numbers keep running but what they running into? The crowd is outside and they asking of you…

Hey Moneyman Moneyman the mayors' on the phone. He says he wants to know if all those people went home. Those momma's and poppa's and students and cooks. Those teachers and preachers, one second I'll look…

Hey Moneyman Moneyman the tents are still up, the songs are still singing and the coffee's in cups. The nights due to fall and the sun's going down but its still a whole mess of good folks hanging round...

They eyes are wide and their voices are loud. Its white and black and colorless proud. The signs are big and the smiles are bright. By heaven I reckon its gone be one hell of a night!

Hey Moneyman poor Moneyman you should slip out the back. Cuz the forces of greed are under attack. No bombs or bullets or rocks or guns. Just hashtag's and voices at the tops of their lungs!

And Moneyman Moneyman I wont need a ride. But if you need me…

You can find me outside.

Juggalos for Life!

This may be the greatest 30 minute film ever. Once you start watchin' you won't be able to stop. Watch out for W2 at around the 14 minute mark. (ok, not really but maybe in another life).

Enjoy!

Dude, films of August featuring Andrea Arnold

The movie bus rolls into the fall finding your intrepid rambler moderately obsessed with Brits.

Here is the list of films watched in August: Cronos (Del Torro), LA Confidential (Hanson), Hunger (McQueen), Heat (Mann), White Ribbon (Haneke), Payback (Helgeland) , The Wild Bunch (Peckinpah), In Bruges (McDonagh), A Serious Man (Coens), Fish Tank (Arnold), Wasp (Arnold), Red Road (Arnold), and The Ruling Class (Medak).

There is little dead weight here. Hunger is earth shattering and Andrea Arnold's films should not be missed.

Superheroes, Michael Barnett

The dude who hooked my buddy Tom up with his very first Phish bootleg and in turn reduced my high school grade point average seismically is getting ready to drop a film on HBO on August 8th at 9pm.

Between this shit and a Matt Bonner sighting at the Lewis CK show in Hamptom Beach - Concord, NH is blowing up!

Movies from June

June's up and down weather fostered more movie watching challenged mostly by the demands of socialization and taking in a bundle of Monty Python's Flying Circus episodes with the members of the 65 East Oxford Crew.

Moving forward, my movies of June: Short Cuts, Frost/Nixon, The Social Network, 3 Women, X-Men: First Class, Synechodoche, New York, Inglourious Basterds, The Tree of Life, Black Narcissus, and Salem's Lot.

Of note: I watched only US joints to ensure my patriotism reached a fever pitch by July 4th. Sadly, the 2am blasts of cheap fireworks in my hood will most definitely result in an alternative location in 2012.

Montreal anyone?

Werner Herzog

Herzog makes documentaries about things that only mostly exist. Needless to say, his notion of an "ecstatic truth" is one this viewer and teller of tall tales can fully support.

So kid do your part, get out there, and make some shit up today!

I can't believe the APT crew hasn't been tipped off to this shit yet. Or maybe I've been too distracted all winter chasing pow and geeking on Internet ski porn to notice. Either way, get on this. These guys produce incredible studio sessions for some of the greatest up and coming acts in the independent music scene, and make them all available for free download via their website. Check the site here:

The Moving Pictures of April, Re-Dirk-Culous

I love films. Sadly, making the time to watch them can be a struggle. Silly graduate school has this wanna be cinephile scrambling.

Alas, here is my April list of flicks viewed.

Sin Nombre (Gangs), Downhill Racer (Mountains), Adventureland (Stoners), The Hunger (Vampires), Le Samourai (Hitman), and Old Joy (Ambiguously Gay Duo).

And, the chandelier is broken! Poor Kobe.
