The eye peering at you from behind the vinyl belongs to a slick Texican thirty-something who makes instrumental joints in his bedroom by night, while fighting crime as a lawyer by day. His beats are sliced up funk with clever samples of the Pete Rock and J Dilla variety. 100% APT certified funk for your hide!
Check who was at the Wiz/Bulls game the other night. First pres to an NBA game in 10 years. I like to look this picture why having this play in the background.
Baby do you remember when/ Fireworks at Lake Michigan.
This guy needs to be wollaped upon. Although...somehow I see a "2009" UNH student resembling W2 bobbing his head a little. Weezer meets Sublime at a party...they are introduced by Stifler. BANK. Also...HORRIBLE. Also unable to look away.
When this guy when down for the season, I declared to W2, "The Magic are done. You know who's runnin' the point? JJ Reddick." The next game, homeboy went 4-5, dropping 17 on the Atlanta Hawks.
Then, I email W2 JUST THE OTHER DAY and tell him that Devan Harris, despite making that amazing shot, is not as good as everyone says he is (he turned the ball over 4 times in the 4th quarter in that Sixers game.)
And of course... ...he drops 42 on the Bulls last night.
Forty Two.
The lesson here? Whoever I tell you stinks...
Ok, now the good news... This is what I am having for dinner tonight. Photos to come...
Doom is the business. He is like hip-hop's Andy Kaufman.
From KMD to collaborations with Griff, Ghost, Danger Mouse, and Madlib, his smoothed out kisch has kept APT heads bobbin' for years. Well the man in the iron mask is back. Get a taste here.
"So nasty that it's probably somewhat of a travesty, having me daily total people, you can call me Your Majesty."
Those of us in Maine love to give props to the people and things that have emerged victorious from this calm, seemingly sedate and mellow state. Writers like Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Stephen King, musicians like Ray Lamontagne, and of course mainstays like Moxie Cola and the L.L. Bean backpack craze that continues today. What can I say? We've got it all: great blueberries, abundant lobster, and as many authentic New England lighthouses as you could possibly cram into a long-weekend road trip. Why would anyone leave?
One individual of whom I recently have become a fan is Greg Stump of Greg Stump Productions. Greg is the God of epic 1980's ski films, complete with cheesy soundtracks more appropriate for the porn industry. He combines skilled skiers with neon jumpsuits, horrific plot lines with Western mountain sunburns, even throwing in sponsorship from such companies as Swatch, Coors, and Adidas. In viewing the films, one might wonder about the sobriety of the ski stars, their mountain antics suggestive of more than just the white powder that falls from the sky in winter. Either way, I'm envious of the skills visible in the films, and encourage you all to give props to this Maine native that hails from Shawnee Peak and Sugarloaf roots.
Check this sample from his 1988 hit, The Blizzard of Ahhs:
And then of course one of his more recent films, Fistful of Moguls:
Kid Cudi released this mixtape last year...this is a cut from that tape...the vid is DECENT.
Also on the music tip, a APT classic gets a facelift. I'm remastered.
Sports...I feel bad for this guy, but thanks to whoever for not making it go down...but this suit may be even more sad. Sick the style guy on him, please...or my man can help...just do something cause this is a red alert.
But more importantly, APT is now game ready for the 2nd half of the season...let me upgrade you.
On the food tip, J Oliver is like the Rachel Ray of the UK but don't hate...both cats got game and are welcome at APT ANYTIME. J has a new magazine out and the food looks GOOD. Order from J's website or just stop by APT and browse through the launch issue, courtesy of MAV.
