Keep it Warm

If sweet shooting Stephan Curry and the glass slip'pered hoopers from Davidson (catch them today versus #1 Kansas at 5pm on CBS) aren't keeping you warm enough on this spring Sunday, then let west coast vets Charlie 2Na and Aceyelone give it a shot. APT, workin hard to keep it something like REAL!

APT Film of the Week

Daed si eimooR. Daed si eimooR. When the King resurfaces I will let you know.

Meanwhile, when Team Voltron does assembles the conversation often degenerates (quickly) to such topics as, "What is your favorite Schwartzeneger joint?" For some this is a difficult decision as there are many worthy choices. For me, there is only one!

"... eat 'em up yum, and your flawed, mutha-f**k Billboard and the editor, here comes the Predator (Remix Style)." -Ice Cube

Good Old Boy

Frontline: Bush's War aired on PBS this week and APT brother in arms Mark Dugas aka Dark Mucas has earned editing credits.

By way of Portsmouth, NH this high flying legend, has traded in his snowboard for a family and a career. Both noble pursuits.

While his deck collects dust, he has been busy and deeply involved in this two part series that chronicles the US war on terror er freedom. He has also helped NOVA out with other politically charged films about elephants, and the cuttlefish.

All of this is serious work and deserves some APT love. If you missed the Bush business, download it here.

Blasphemy

It has been stated that one should not worship false idols. Rock band Mau reminds us why. A very happy Easter from your friends here at APT.

Hey, if you had been out delivering chocolate eggs all over town you might need to blow off a little steam, too. Even the Easter Bunny has needs.

Assist to Graymatter for the video.

Blog On Blog: PIES!

So...I guess we've got to the point in our relationship where I should tell you about my OTHER blog. Yes, it's true. While I do have strong feelings for Live from APT, Nothing-in-The-House is my first love. And how could it not be? for it's a pie blog, my friends. That's right, a blog all about PIE. There you will find stories about pies, recipes for pies, and pictures of pies and of people in the PEZ (Pie Enjoyment Zone).

Pay it a visit, drool over the pics, steal a pie off the windowsill, and scan the archives, for you just may find some familiar faces...

Love the Game

The Madness begins on your CBS station today at 12:20 eastern standard timeout. CBS Sports is streaming it live all tourney long. APT is gearing up to drop into full basketball geek mode. Before we do, moment of silence for five years too many. NO MORE WAR! Bush are you listening?

Game of the night is at 7pm. USC and OJ Mayo (above) versus Kansas State and Micheal Beasely. I like basketball.

Blogs White People Like

This may have been linked to on 'Live from APT' before, but if so, it's just an indication that the folks at APT find this blog rather humorous. Some fav entries: #84 T-shirts, #71 Being the Only White Person Around & #70 Difficult Break-ups.

I propose entry #90 to be a rather meta- "This Blog". #91? "The Post Modern"

APT Flick of the Week

Happy St. Pats. Get yourself a box of Guinness, curl up, and get scared.

Tesis. This super creepy tale of voyuerism made in 1996 comes by way of Chilean director Alejandro Amenabar. His other credits include Abre Los Ojos and The Others. The trailer is not for the weak of heart, so brace yourself fools.

I got the recommendation a while back from our friend at Pagin the Devil Twice. Peep his recent ramblings about Jazz to get a sense of what makes our boy El Man tick.

Pryor Endeavors

Hot off the press from APT alum Hi-Duke, check the world premier of his new mix, Prior Endeavors*.

Duke on production, Rip on the mic...it'll be on APT's decks this week...it should probably be on yours as well...

(*This mix is deemed an "Earmuffs Set" by the staff at APT...for adults only.)

Once again, the NYTimes is just KILLIN' IT!

Check this out...

Are you Ready?

It is Sunday. If the coffee isn't working then it is time to get out of your seat. Set your worries aside while you join the Fatback Band and do the Bus Stop. "That's right, don't stop, I'll tell you when."

APT Music Spotlight

Meet APT's newest friend, Shimoda.

Silent Poets have been around since '91...APT has a line on their Japanese only import compilation. Feel free to stop by APT for a listen...

In other news...if you are fiend for NYC (aka The City) like most of the folks here at APT, don't forget to check out NYTimes' newest interactive feature, Weekend Explorer. Give yourself a good hour to get through this...too good to pass up. Narrated by historians, you can even download these audio clips and go on the actual walking tour yourself.

NYC...even their newspaper is the sh*t!

Believe the Hype

I have been feeling newsy lately.

Pitchfork Music Festival is making waves. They have announced their lineup for this summers festival: Animal Collective (right); Vampire Weekend (okay); Public Enemy (what?).

PE in the house? Some say that the game has passed them by, like I imagine half of the waifish hipsters who will be in the crowd come July. Take a listen and judge for yourself. It certainly ain't Kanye or Clipse.

I suspect this won't phase Flav and Chuck. They will rip into the steamy Chicago air by playing their entire earth shattering album, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. Check this killer article on the group's legacy.

My guess is Geraldine Ferraro and Karl Rove will be sitting this one out. But what I want to know is...will APT be in the house?

Orangette

When you have a sec, say hello to Molly over at Orangette.

Via the Emerald City, girl started this food blog in 04 and now writes a monthly column in Bon Appetit. The recipie for these were made Sunday by APT members Roomie, MAV and Masta Chi. Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese glaze are no joke. You can find the recipie in this month's issue of Bon Appetit.

In other news, APT member Roomie has some new photos for you to peep...check them here.

Between Heaven and Earth

Breaking News out of the Block Party camp. Portland Maine screenwriter, friend of APT, and die hard Celtics fan Big Ben Monaghan may just be making his movie after all. This story covers all the struggles and essentials on his film about a man, his dead mother, and some gardening.

All the best Ben. We are rooting for you.

Knowledge Reigns Supreme

I was approached recently by a former student. Armed with a camera and a question he sought my sage like wisdom on matters of great import. "Mr. W2, who is the greatest MC of all time?"

After a long pause, I told him about a Brooklyn native with parents from Jamacia who came up with a little help from the Hare Krishnas. A unique upbringing for a man that would be called "Teacha" by his peers.

With all due respect to Rakim, Chuck D, Common, and BIG, for your Sunday listening pleasure, Lawrence Krishna Parker.

Obama Still Has Spice

Obama supporters were looking to seal the deal Tuesday Night. It didn't happen. The man is focusing on the positive, which is basically an insurmountable lead and a dope chili recipe. We like the spice here at APT and even appreciate Hillary's continued efforts to postpone the inevitable (name five people you know who voted for her).

Hard hitting news from your friends at APT!

Round Three

The final regular season meeting between the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons is tonight. This game matters. The Celtics still have the best record in basketball, but the Pistons are only 3 1/2 games back. Homecourt advantage matters come playoff time. 7:30 tip off. Watch it!

Round 1 Pistons 87-85. Billups wins it at the line.

Round 2 Celtics 92-85. Rookie Glenn Davis scores twenty.

APT's most unruly sports fan, RV will supply the full report as he will be seated courtside with Celts jumbotron dancer Gino, QB Tom Brady, and plastic-man Mitt Romney. Watch your drink Bob.

RIP Jeff Healey

Rest in peace, Jeff Healey...41 is just too young...

Along with his numerous achievements as a guitarist, Healey was best known at APT for his performance in the Rowdy Harrington masterpiece, Roadhouse, as house band leader, Cody.

Monster Mash-Up

A very happy Sunday from APT. I caught this first on You Aint No Picasso, a stellar website for all things indie rock. Jonny Cash meets Cypress Hill. Get Rhythm!
