The best things of 2008

That you may have missed.

APT has touched several bases this year. Barack. Samberg. Beyonce. Bon Iver. Celtics Basketball. Muppets. Jon Oates. Dark Knight. Here are my best kept secrets of 2008.

Justice. S.T.R.E.S.S. These guys are known for their dayglo electronica. They flip the script on this one and pretty much bring it like Beat It on steroids. Think Funny Games or Clock Work Orange.

Waltz with Bashir. An animated war movie about a Lebanese soldier with PTSD. Hasn't hit Portland yet, but it will.

Lady Lamb the Beekeeper. You could pass this off as some Juno-type-psuedo-indie-poo or jump onto the worldwide bandwagon. Either way expect good things in 2009 starting with a performance this Friday at One Longfellow.

Dwayne Wade. Out all last year, his understaffed Miami crew just got the best of The LeBron's. This is your future MVP.

All the best for a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year.

I am just a casual observer to the NBA, really, but these guys seem to be developing some sick power-alley-oopers these days. For example, see the one in the d-wade montage here where he is falling out of bounds and rockets it direkt to the basket for the chris paul (pretty sure) slam.

The level of athleticism is unreal in the NBA. I would say that many teams are over committing in the passing lanes and this results in some back down alleys as well as the allowance of zone defense and the ability of so many guards to penetrate and finish allows many weekside oops.

My two sense.
