I'm a rock star...

Being in my near-mid-30's and having two kids (ages 2 and 15), the resources for discovering new music are at an all-time low. Currently I'm jamming to the Max and Ruby theme song and these losers. So what's there to help me out? My best friend in life: video games. Specifically, mother grabbin' Rock Band. It is truly the venue of all venues for those of us with a love for music and extraordinary eye-hand coordination. The game comes with a great set list, but for just a little extra you can download songs to add to it. So a while back I was looking through the Music Store and on a whim I got Red Tandy by The Mother Hips. Holy hell, this song was not only cool in a 60's sense, but it was a ton of fun to play. Here is a video of the guitar track on expert. Check the extended jam at the end. Hello? Live Phish on Rock Band please!

Oh, and here's another awesome song to play. Not Mother Hips, but almost as good

Stay tuned for my review and videos of me playing Rock Band 2. Holy crap, what a set list.

Where was this game during the summer of 97? Holy cow, I could just see you with a camel light hanging out of your mouth playing Weezer...

Fav part of Guitar Hero? When you f*ck up and the guitar makes the noises of the strings and such. It sounds stupid, but I still giggle my ass off when someone has a meltdown on this game.

God this is so scary. You bought music from a video game. This is the new direction of the music industry, who just can't keep it's hands out of the candy jar, the ruination continues. Brainwashed little video gamers buying the music they hear all day on their games...Is this an all-time low? No, wait there is more...

Technically, I bought music FOR a video game. And where else would I have heard The Mother Hips? Rock Band forever.
