Darkon

Everyone wants to be a hero, right? We all reach a point in our day-to-day, when things just seem so regular, so prescribed, the mundane American experience so mind-numbing. Well, rest assured. There is an outlet that many of us have yet to consider. They call it LARPing.

LARPing is sort of a living room Dungeons & Dragons session taken outdoors. It's creative, it's fun, it's international, and for many, it's even better than reality. After all, when the day-to-day has got you down, why not put on your chain mail and pick up your padded Nerf sword and go to battle?

But don't take my word for it. Hear it from the pros:

What got me thinking about LARPing, other than a former roommate, was a recent viewing of a wonderful documentary entitled Darkon, which introduces a LARP community in the metropolitan Washington DC area. Both enlightening and thought-provoking, the film certainly opens you up to a new option for coping with it all.

Check it:

So here's my proposal: Every third Sunday in November at Deering Oaks. See you then!

Tell your "friend" to check out the "Women of Darkon" 2009 calendar. I think emails are given on each pic.

Can I be on W2's team? Actually, I want to be on Evan and Ian's team...there is no way we'll lose.
